Legal Advocacy
The Americans Overseas Domestic Violence Crisis Center can provide survivors with pro-bono attorney consultations.
Advocates can provide referrals for qualified international family lawyers, and advocate for legal aid services.
In some cases we can also provide limited financial assistance for legal retainers to help survivors gain custody of their children.
Professional Counseling
The Americans Overseas Domestic Violence Crisis Center has licensed professional counselors providing emergency reintegration therapy for survivors. Our counselors understand the difficulties of reintegrating into society, in tandem with addressing the traumatic experience of surviving and escaping an abusive relationship.
Transition Services
The Americans Overseas Domestic Violence Crisis Center can assist with relocating families from around the world back to the US. The Americans Overseas Domestic Violence Crisis Center will advocate for survivors to secure housing in the survivor’s name to help build future credit, and link her to regional services, including job development programs. The Americans Overseas Domestic Violence Crisis Center can advocate for repatriation loans and other necessary services for survivors.
Safety Planning & Case Management
The Americans Overseas Domestic Violence Crisis Center offers specialized safety planning and case management for American overseas survivors either living with an abuser or after the relationship has ended. Advocates have the tools and knowledge to assist survivors with safety planning in foreign countries and/or after returning to the United States.
